In winter

Be aware that you're heading out into the wilderness, and that the biggest danger in Quebec winters is the cold.

So it's a good idea to be prepared for any eventuality, especially as the climate is more rigorous and changeable in winter than in summer.

In the event of bad weather, or even an accident, you may have to stay in one place for a long time before help arrives.

In winter, please bring the following basic equipment:

  • Mountain snowshoes (with crampons)
  • Warm walking boots
  • Alternative clothing options (warm socks, gloves or mittens, toque and extra layer of clothing).
  • A minimum of drinking water (1 to 2 liters/person/day), snacks or another source of energy.
  • Headlamp with spare batteries (days are short in winter)
  • Skates for fun on the skating rink in Parc de la Passerelle (Shannahan sector)
