Safety first
Fatbikes, like mountain bikes, are ridden in the great outdoors. So you need to plan for every eventuality, especially as the climate is more rigorous and changeable in winter than in summer. The following tips should be taken into consideration when planning an outing.
Temperature
It's a good idea to carry a few extra clothing options with you at all times (warm socks, gloves or mittens, toque and extra layer of clothing). In the event of bad weather, an accident or even a flat tire, you may have to stay in one place for a long time while waiting for help.
Power supply
Keep water, a snack or another source of energy with you at all times. Plan a light snack, as digestion takes up part of your system and you may feel colder than before the meal. Fat is an excellent source of energy, when eaten in small, regular doses (for example, slices of sausage).
Itinerary
As far as possible, plan your itinerary in advance and inform a friend or relative. In the case of a structured center (with a reception desk), you can leave your information at reception (don't forget to tell the staff when you leave the center).
